During the last few seasons, the mezzo-so- prano Elena Gragera has won the acclaim of the Spanish music scene not only be- cause of her artistic quality, but also due to the depth and genuineness with which she imbues her interpretations.
Ms. Gragera’s discography includes: a CD of songs by various composers (Mompou, Montsalvatge, Poulenc, Nin-Culmell, Oha- na), all on poems by Garcia Lorca; a record- ing on the Columna Música label of the Songs 1920-1930 by Joaquín Nin; Roberto Gerhard songs on the Harmonia Mundi label; the complete songs of Joaquín Nin- Culmell and Ernesto Halffter, both CDs released by Columna Música; and most recently, her interpretation of the title role in Felip Pedrell’s opera La Celestina with the Orchestra Ciudad de Barcelona under the direction of Antoni Ros Marbá for the Autor label.
